Compound Butter Three Ways - So easy to make!

Today I am going to share a tip or two on making compound butters. The idea of a compound butter is to mix plain butter with seasonings and other ingredients that will enhance the flavor of the butter. Think of it as a boost that is added to the butter to make it better.

I cant stop to think of this situation and reflect about life. What are the boosts in our lives that can make us better? Are we adding to our lives things that will help it not to be stagnant and plain? Keep in mind that I am no questioning our worth, we are beautiful the way we are, we are unique and loved for who we are. But no matter how successful we currently may be or how satisfied we feel, as human beings we can always be better than yesterday and this will only happen if we add to our lives ingredients that will enhance our potential. So, how can we be better? Well, you know the answer for your life and the answer may be in the form of:  making a change that will make you happier, healthier, more successful, more knowledgeable, in better shape, with more energy, more kind, less stressed, with more money, closer to God, a better person, or professional or better at a relationship.  What ever that may be, wake up every day and make sure you add to your life only ingredients that will help you be better.

Now lets do the same with this plain unsalted butter, lets add some tasty flavors and make it so much better.

The flavors you can add to butter are many but today I want to share my top three favorite.

To start, here is a sweet butter that goes well with breakfast items such as pancakes and french toast, as well as on regular bread before any meal and let me now forget this butter pairs well with the southern favorite: corn bread.

DIY idea

When I have brunch or dinner parties in my house and serve compound butter, I know people are going to love it so much that I have a few ready to give as souvenir to take home and enjoy.

Here is a simple and cute idea on how to do it. Wrap the butter in parchment paper and tie the ends with twine. This makes it look rustic and chic. You can add a tag with the to and from information or you can write directly in the parchment paper.

On the savory side, my favorite flavor to have in hand is:

Take roasted garlic (get recipe here) and blended to form a puree mix it with butter and chopped chives. This compound butter is excellent for seasoning a whole chicken before roasting it, for basting grilled steaks, for sauteing vegetables, on mashed potatoes or bake potatoes, to make shrimp scampi and of course great for making garlic bread.

I love mixed olives butter as a finishing butter on meats as well. It is also a great spread on pita bread or sourdough to accompany a Mediterranean feast. I add this butter to pasta and I even use it, soften, as a dip.
