Making chocolate sauce has become one of the easies way for me to turn a simple dessert into something more special. I first thought making chocolate sauce only required melting chocolate, but after playing with a few recipes I found the perfect way of reaching a smooth and silky consistency that pours beautiful over cakes, fruit, ice cream, cookies, or anything you’d like. You could even cover a cheesecake with this sauce like I did before.
The trick is not to melt the chocolate on its own but into warm heavy cream. Yes, as simple as that. Heat heavy cream, remove it from the heat, add chocolate and stir. That’s it! If you would like to flavor the sauce you could add any extract of your preference like almond or vanilla. For this recipe I decided to give the chocolate a quick with a hint of habanero.
In the past I tried using cayenne pepper but it was a disaster. By using a ground chile, I was not able to blend it well all throughout the sauce. Some parts of the sauces were hotter than others and overall was not a success. That’s why when I was invited to try the El Yucateco hot sauce, I immediately thought of adding it to my chocolate sauce recipe. By using a sauce to add heat and flavor, I was able to mix well and combine it evenly throughout the chocolate making my sauce more exciting.
I really enjoyed how easy it was to add the right kick to this chocolate sauce using El Yucateco chile habanero hot sauce which I found at Walmart. I actually would like to try some of their other flavors and I am most intrigued by the Black Label Reserve which is exclusively available at Walmart. If you want to learn more about El Yucateco products, follow them on Facebook and visit their website for more recipes.
My husband particularly loved the kick of the habanero in the chocolate sauce and I now keep a jar on my fridge that I can quickly pull at any time to quickly satisfy my sweet tooth.
